Tammy Adams lit a candle in memory of Red West

I'd like to share that my very first book i ever read about Elvis was the one written by Red and Sonny West. I fell in love with Elvis because of that book. I felt the love that Red felt for Elvis. I felt the pain that Red felt knowing that there was nothing he could do to save Elvis. I did not feel that what Red said about Elvis's faults was a betrayal towards Elvis. Those revelations showed me that Elvis was a real person. A person who was under so much stress. It showed me the reality of what Elvis lost to become famous. Red was there for Elvis before he became famous. I fell in love with Red as well as Elvis because Red cared for Elvis. Protected Elvis. I truly believe Red did not write a book just because he was angry. I think he hoped it would bring on a change for the better. Like they say "the first step to getting better is admitting theres a problem" Elvis did nothing wrong. Elvis was a human being dealing with extreme stress, pain and loss. How he dealt with it was human. Red saw the human in Elvis. The flaws. But in no way did it interfere with his genuine feelings for Elvis.
Thank you Red for taking such good care of Elvis.
My mom, Frances, cleaned Red West and his wife, Pat wests house for years and never knew the connection! She told me one time they must live Elvis! They have a lot of memorabilia! She said Red Elena’s a very nice person, friendly as could be!

I am 2 years late getting my condolences here. I enjoyed watching your career Mr. West. Robert Conrad talks of you often on his radio show and how much he enjoyed working with you in the Wild Wild West and Baa Baa Black Sheep. I loved Elvis and followed his career where I saw many pictures of you with him. You had qute the life. RIP.
Sorry about your loss I liked watching Red in the movies! Like Black sheep. Was just thinking about him the other day and didn’t even realize he past!….. I’m saddened!
Sincere condolences to his family. One of Elvis’ best friends, maybe the best. I will always – for the rest of my life – remember you at Christmas when I hear my all time favorite Christmas song „If Every Day Was Like Christmas“ written by you, Dear Mr. West. Thank you very much. Doreen from Germany.

I was saddened to learn of the recent death of Red West. His life was a fascinating one and his talent as an actor and songwriter to be admired. Separate Ways is one of my favorite songs especially when sung by Elvis Presley. I salute Red for his service to his Country and I lament his passing. Vic in Toronto, Canada.
