Raymond Edward Robilio's Obituary
Raymond E. Robilio, 90, well known for his sense of humor and quick wit, Raymond always had a smile for those around him. He was a great man of faith, a devoted father who had a generous heart, and unending patience. Raymond had a deep and unconditional love for his family and friends. He was immensely proud and supportive of his children and grandchildren. He passed away peacefully in his sleep, May 18, 2014. He was born June 16, 1923, the son of John and Jennie Robilio. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, and an inductee of the Hall of Fame at Christian Brothers High School, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Raymond was a member of the greatest generation serving his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was stationed in England and was a top turret gunner on the B17 bomber. He was assigned to the 730th bomber squad, 452nd bomb group. He flew 30 missions over Germany, including D-Day, and other parts of Europe. Raymond was co-owner of Robilio and Sarno Big Star, along with his brother in laws, Joe Radogna and Sam Sarno. He was one of the owners of Ronco Spaghetti and owned the former Robilio’s Barbeque on Summer Avenue. He was preceded in death by his son Edward Joseph (Eddie), three sisters, and five brothers. Raymond Leaves his four children, Gina (Jim) Good, Deborah (Kevin) Callaghan, Michael (Ashley) Robilio, Patrick (Paula) Robilio, his sister, Rita (Joe) Radogna, and ten grandchildren; Sara (Fred) Edwards, Grant (Christy) Edwards, Lauren Robilio, Allie (Ryan) Bischoff, Rachel Robilio, Gaia (Lily) Robilio, Alex Robilio, Anna Robilio, Katie Callaghan and Kimmie Callaghan, and three great grandchildren: Allie Edwards, Lydia Edwards and Taylor Owens. He also leaves behind his devoted caretakers, Betty Craig, Dorothy Brooks, and Jamesetta Perkins. Raymond left behind a legacy of beautiful memories, and will be greatly missed this side of heaven. The visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at St. Louis Catholic Church. The family requests that memorials be sent to Birthright of Memphis, Christian Brothers High School, or a charity of your choice.
