Ray Carlton Pittman's Obituary
Ray Carlton Pittman SR., Lt. Commander USN, went to be with the Lord on December 19, 2024. He was born December 29, 1923, to Rolf A. and Della O. Pittman of Memphis, Tn. He graduated from South Side High School and served as class President in 1942. He received congressional appointment to attend the United States Naval Academy and graduated with a BS in Engineering in 1948. He served his country during World War II and the Korean War. His service commendations included National defense service medal, China service medal, American campaign medal, World War Il victory medal, Korean service medal, and United Nations service medal. He retired from the Navy Reserve in 1983. He also worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Dupont chemical company and retired after 26 years of service.
He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years Dorothy Craig Pittman, and grandson John Matthew Pittman. Ray is survived by son; Ray C Pittman Jr, (Doris) of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter Pamela J. Belluomini (Gary) of Lake Jackson, TX; son Craig I Pittman (Susan) of Collierville TN; son Robert B Pittman (Lisa) of Lakeland TN; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at Memorial Park on Thursday January 2 from 11:30 until 12:30, with Funeral service to immediately follow at 12:30pm.. The Interment will take place Thursday January 2, 2024 at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at 2:00pm on Forrest Hill Irene Rd.
