Randy Almond's Obituary
Walter Randolph (Randy) Almond, 67, passed away early Sunday morning, December 5. Randy was a native Memphian and a Germantown resident. He graduated from Germantown High School and the University of Memphis, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He worked at Bluff City Transfer & Storage from the age of 16, where he held many positions, eventually including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer. After retirement, he served as treasurer of Compassion Church.
He was involved in Memphis Cotton Carnival for many years and was a member of the Krewe PTAH for which he served as chairman and treasurer. He was selected as King in 1995.
He had endless hobbies and interests, including hunting, bike riding, fly fishing, scuba diving, skiing, and watersports. He earned a hobby pilot’s license and traveled with his son across country by motorcycle. He loved history, space exploration, and was enamored with the beach, but above all, he loved his family and was dedicated to their wellbeing and happiness.
Randy is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Almond, daughter, Rebecca Mohler (Greg), son, Taylor Almond (Sara), mother, Pat Almond, and two siblings Alisa Neal (Thomas) and Gregory Almond (Tina). His grandsons Miles Mohler and Vaughn Almond were his pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his father, W. R. Almond, Jr.
Due to COVID and the presence of small children, the visitation and service are private. However, a streaming service will be available.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Randy’s honor to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, the Navy SEAL Foundation, or Ducks Unlimited
