Randall Patrick O'Byrnes' Obituary
Randall Patrick O’Byrnes, age 74, of Memphis, TN, passed away on June 7th, 2026, surrounded by his wife and children.
Born on March 18th, 1952, in Memphis, TN. Randy was the only child of Arned and Dorothy O’Byrnes. Throughout his life, he was known for his faith, work ethic, and love of his family.
Randy devoted 50 years of service to the community as a police officer - 35 years to the Memphis Police Department, where he retired in 2008 with the rank of Major, and 15 years to the Millington Police Department, where he retired in 2024 as a detective. He was an officer of strong moral character, dedication, and efficacy. He was honored to serve alongside and mentor so many other brave men and women. Outside of work, he found joy in spoiling everyone around him. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and a beautiful array of dogs he treasured.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan O’Byrnes, children, Shannon O’Byrnes-Smith (Kevin), Toby O’Byrnes, Robin Nussbaumer (Tim), Bryan O’Byrnes, and Sarah Klibert, and grandchildren, Abigail Locks, Ian Nussbaumer, Emma Nussbaumer, Mason Klibert, Lily Klibert, Alaina Ware, and Hayden O'Byrnes, and was preceded in death by his parents, Arned W. and Dorothy Giardina O’Byrnes, and siblings, Albert Artioli, Dorothy Jean Artioli and Ralph Artioli.
Visitation with the family will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery from 10:00am-11:00am on June 11th, 2026, with services beginning at 11:00am and burial immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memphis Police Association.
Randy’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
