Ramelle S. Cortese's Obituary
Ramelle S. Cortese, 92, of Memphis passed away Tuesday December 20, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital-Memphis. Mrs. Cortese was a 1936 graduate of Sacred Heart, was the organist for 9:00 am mass during her high school years, She was the Queen Tia XXX Memphis Cotton Carnival of the Sphinx Secret Society, was a member of St. Joseph Circle of the Ave Maria Guild and was a communicant of St. Louis Catholic Church-Memphis. She was also a Diamond Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League. Mrs. Cortese was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved her family dearly. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ramelle Flournoy; sister, Katherine Smith; brother, Rev. John Sorce; and is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Thomas C. Cortese; son, Teddy Chandler of Moscow, TN; grandchildren, Stefani Sullenger, Matt and his wife Kim, Paul and his wife Caroline Flournoy; great grandchildren, Chandler, Noah and Holden; and brother, Robert L. Sorce of Memphis. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until the rosary service at 7:00 pm, Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, December 23, 2011 at St. Louis Catholic Church with the entombment to follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
