Ralph L. Sides' Obituary
Ralph Leon Sides, Sr., born January 8, 1921 in Ackerman, MS, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ February 15, 2012. Moved to Memphis, attended Humes High School. He was a decorated World War II Veteran in the 29th infantry division. He saw action on D Day at Omaha Beach, the Battle of the Bulge and then on to Berlin. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Mr. Sides was married to devoted wife Agnes for 49 years. Electronic audio and video engineer, at W and W Dist Co on Madison Ave, then went on to become one of the top recording and studio designers, trouble shooter and tech engineers. He was involved in many Memphis and Nashville recording studios. such as American Sounds of Memphis, Stax, Hi and Sun Records. He also partnered with Bill Black, Elvis’s bass player, at Lynn Low records in Memphis and built studio 19 and 20 in Nashville with Larry Rogers. He leaves 4 children Lee Edmiston of CA, Ralph Sides, Jr. of WV, James Sides of Virginia Beach, Betty Bingham of Bartlett, and seven grandchildren. We love you Daddy and you will be missed greatly. The family will receive friends from 58 p.m. Monday, February 20 and the funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 21 all at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.
