Ralph Reinagel's Obituary
Ralph Reinagel, 90, passed away on March 27, 2011, at his home. He was born December 1, 1920 in Oran, MO to Lawrence L. Reinagel and Amelia M. Menz Reinagel. Ralph graduated in May 1938 from Chaffee Central High School Chaffee, MO, and moved to Memphis immediately following his graduation. He was employed by Frisco RR as a Boilermaker Apprentice and entered in the Army on February 2, 1943 and served with the 36th Division in Africa, Italy, France, Germany, and Austria. Ralph served in the Invasion of Italy on September 9, 1943, Invasion on Southern France on August 15, 1944, received wounds in Italy on December 3, 1943. He served in five major battles in the European Theatre and was awarded a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, American Theatre, European Theatre with 5 stars, 2 good conduct awards, occupation and victory medal. He married Virginia Schetter on May 2, 1942. Ralph retired in 1979 from the US Post Office. He leaves his loving wife, Virginia; two children; his son, John (Beverly) Reinagel; his daughter, Dr. Patricia (Gary) Keene; five grandsons, John (Laurie) Reinagel Jr. of Tucson, AZ, Joseph Reinagel of Memphis, Richard, Michael, and Daniel Keene all of Memphis; and two great-grandchildren, Mary Elisabeth Reinagel and John William Reinagel III both of Tucson, AZ. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, with a Rosary service at 7 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, in the chapel at the funeral home.
