Ralph T. Raney's Obituary
Ralph T. Raney, 87, a native Memphian, died at his home on December 21, 2014. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Tech High School where he made All-Memphis on the school football team in 1944 and 1945. Ralph owned the Carousel Restaurant on Crump Boulevard. Later he became a home builder. He was an avid golfer, tennis player and woodworker. Most of all, he enjoyed spending leisure time at his cabin at Pickwick Lake. Ralph was the husband of Jean Rose Williams Raney for 66 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Ben Raney, of Mountainburg, AR; as well as his daughter, Rebecca Raney and granddaughter Jessica Rose Childress both of New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 24th from 10:00 AM -11:00 AM with service to follow at 11:00, at First Baptist Church Chapel, Poplar and Parkway. Interment at Memphis Memory Gardens at 6444 Raleigh LaGrange Road.Funeral Services have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
