Ralph "Bob" Martin's Obituary
Ralph M. “Bob” Martin, 92, passed away on April 13, 2010. He was born in Los Angeles, CA and lived most of his life there. Bob served as a Captain in the Army Air Corp as a B-17 Pilot During WWII. He flew dozens of missions until shot down during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a P.O.W. in a camp near Buchenwald until liberated by the Russians. He retired to Coaldale, CO then to Sparks, NV and then to Memphis. He was an avid round- and square- dancer into his 80’s. He excelled at bridge and tending his yard and garden. He was preceded in death by his wife Edna D. Martin. He is survived by his daughter, Allayne Donnelly Everett, two grandchildren, Richard J. Myers and Cyndee A. Tamburino, four great grandchildren, Samuel Ralph Martin Myers, James F. Myers, Michael A. Tamburino and Katherine A. Tamburino and his grand daughter-in-law, Margaret Barr Myers. Services will be Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Shady Grove Presbyterian Church at Yates and Shady Grove Road. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Shady Grove Presbyterian Church 5530 Shady Grove Rd., Memphis, TN 38120.
