Ralph Lawrence's Obituary
RALPH G. LAWRENCE, 83, of Memphis, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 12, 2011. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Margie Sue Pettus Lawrence; brothers, Rev. Lloyd E. Lawrence and Glen L. Lawrence of the Nashville area; sons, R. Gordon Lawrence II (Judy) of Memphis, Dr. Jeffrey Pettus Lawrence (Lindy) of Franklin; daughters, Abigail Lawrence Lipsey (Steve) of Knoxville and Jennifer Lawrence Webber (J.P.) of Memphis; six grandsons, five granddaughters and one great-granddaughter. Ralph graduated in 1946 from East High School in Nashville and joined the Navy. Following his service to his country, he attendedĀ Vanderbilt University and then obtained his law degree from Cumberland School of Law in 1953. He was the president of the Associated Agency, an independent insurance agency located in Memphis, TN for twenty-nine years. For many years, Ralph served as an elder for the Church of Christ at White Station, as the Chairman of the Board of Harding Academy, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Durham Foundation. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, October 14 from 5-7:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue, with services being held on Saturday, October 15 at 2:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Church of Christ at White Station located at 1106 Colonial Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Harding Academy.
