Rachael Anne Brite's Obituary
Rachael Anne Brite, LPC, MHSP of Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully in her sleep at age 76, on July 27, 2023. She is survived by her three children; Shelley Cabbasier and husband Troy of Bentonville, AR, Ernie Lubiani III and wife Cindy of Bartlett, TN, and Stephanie (Lubiani) Wilkinson and husband Eric of Cordova, TN, eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother, Steve Brite of Knoxville, TN, and two sisters; Pauletta Gordon of West Memphis, AR, and Jenny Burks and husband Tim of West Memphis, AR. Rachael was born to Lupita Adeline (Stefano) and Ernest Brite in Memphis on December 21, 1946.
Rachael earned both her Bachelor's degree and Master's degree from the University of Memphis. She served in the field of social services and mental health counseling for many years with a diverse background that included working with the disabled at the Multiple Sclerosis Society, children and families at Youth Villages, the homeless, and with victims of domestic violence. For several years, Rachel traveled the state of Tennessee for the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth; researching, assessing, and reporting on the status of children in state custody. She counseled at Delta Medical Center for seven years on three different units; alcohol and drugs, partial outpatient, and mental health. She was employed by a company that provides intense outpatient services and group counseling for the chronically mentally ill. She also worked as a counselor for Eric Cassius & Associates. In her later years, she maintained a client base in private practice with those whom she had served for many years of her life. Her volunteer experiences included working with hospice programs, the American Red Cross, animal rescue, 12 step programs, and as a Prayer Chaplain for her church. She was an active member of her church, The Unity Church of Practical Christianity of Cordova, TN.
Rachael was a loving mother, adoring grandmother, caring friend, and wonderful counselor. She was fascinated by the stars, enjoyed attending the theatre, spending time with friends, reading books, and living a life in service to others. She had adventures all over the United States and explored several other countries as well. Rachael led her life straight from the heart, gave more than she took from life, and blessed the countless lives that she touched.
