Quindel Keith's Obituary
Mrs. Quindel Whitfield Keith, 98, Richland, MS, formerly of Memphis, TN, passed away December 22nd at Plain View Assisted Living in Richland, MS.Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home, December 28th 5:00 P. M. until 8: 00 P.M. and 9:00 A.M. until the 10:00 A.M. service on December 29th. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.“Whittie”, as she was affectionately known by many of her family and friends, was born March 28th, 1918, in Prentiss County, MS to William Whitner Whitfield and Alice Jourdan Whitfield, who preceded her in death. She received her education at Burton High School, Booneville, MS and Sunflower Junior College in Moorhead, MS. After graduation, she returned to Prentiss County, where she taught school and coached basketball for two years at Burton High School. She moved to Memphis in 1943, where she was employed by Firestone, 2709 Air Force Base and Delta Surgical, retiring in 1985.She was preceded in death by her husband, Opal Litton Keith and infant son James Litton Keith; three brothers, Connie Whitfield, Melton Whitfield and Grady Whitfield; a sister, Mattie Faye Woodruff and nephew Jimmy Woodruff. She is survived by her step-son David Keith and wife Dorothy of Madison, MS; two granddaughters, Gina Smith and husband Dr. Bennett Smith, Jr. of Hattiesburg, MS and Cindy Huerkamp and husband Jack Huerkamp of Macon, MS; three great-grandsons; two great-grand-daughters; three great-great-granddaughters; one great-great-grandson; sister-in-law Jeanette Whitfield of Jeffersonville, IN and numerous nephews, nieces, and loved ones and special friends Sara Hitt of Hernando, MS and Randy and Jean Randall of Counce, TN.She was an active, longtime member of Decatur Trinity Christian Church since 1949, and a devoted member of the Christian Builder’s Sunday School Class.The family has requested that any memorials be sent to Decatur Trinity Christian Church. 2449 Alturia Rd., Bartlett, TN 38134.
