Phyllis Kromer Reid Folsom's Obituary
Phyllis Kromer Reid Folsom, 95, passed away October 30, 2016 in Germantown, TN. She was born May 17, 1921 in Kalamazoo, MI to George and Mabel Kromer. Mrs. Folsom is survived by her children, Ann Snell (Don) of Mt. Pleasant, MS, Chuck Reid (Cindy) of Elloree, SC, Ricky Reid (Linda) of Collierville, TN and Gary Reid (Diane) of Williston, TN; step daughter, Wanda Rigdon (Russell) of Ashburn, GA; 23 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack Kromer; husband of 32 years, Shuyler Reid, Jr.; husband of 31 years, Sidney M. Folsom; stepson, Randy Folsom and great grandson, Logan Bozeman. Mrs. Folsom was a 1938 graduate of Tech High School in Memphis. She made many lifelong friends during her career at Holiday Inns Inc. and achieved the status of Innkeeper from Holiday Inn University. Her work managing hotels led her to south Georgia, where she met her second husband, Sidney M. Folsom. While in Georgia she managed food and beverage for Cordele Country Club and was extremely active in her church. After the death of her husband, Sidney, in 2009, she moved back to Memphis and joined St. Mark’s United Methodist Church where she continued her church activities. Although her faith was very important, her real passion in life was keeping track of her family’s and friends’ birthdays, anniversaries and any other special days. She often made special handmade cards. She enjoyed the last two years making new friends and being involved in countless activities at Hearthside Senior Living. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until her service begins at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 3, at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
