Trish Joyce
To her teaching colleagues, there was only ever one "Phyllis" at our College. When I joined Broward College as a full-time English faculty, Phyllis was quick to befriend me, offering her teaching advice, campus insights, and in general, her quick wit, wide smile and Southern charm. With students, she was strict, yet caring. And they loved having her teach with her signature sense of humor! After Phyllis retired, she returned to the College to teach as an Adjunct. Loved hearing Phyllis' observations, lore, and "Round 2" memories. Often, she spoke of her Mom and daughter Lauren. I also recall that Phyllis was excited to move on, taking with her decades of mentoring, classroom expertise, and love of teaching. Phyllis helped make me a better teacher--and for that, I say "Thank you for your mitzvah, friend."
