Phyllis Tyler Bailey's Obituary
Phyllis Tyler Bailey, age 64, of Norfork, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010, at her home. She was born January 29, 1946, in Memphis, Tennessee, to William and Jewel (Tyler) Frazier. Mrs. Bailey married Jim Bailey on July 18th, 1967, in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a member of the St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. She was a career educator, having taught in the public schools in Memphis for many years and then ending her career as the Art Teacher at ASU-Mountain Home. Her devotion to educating others spanned some 37 years. Her greatest joy was teaching at ASU-Mountain Home where she received the Faculty Member of the Year award for 2003-4 as voted by her peers. She also served as president of the ASU-Mountain Home Faculty Association and was awarded Educator of the Year 2009 from the Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce. Many know of her art work on the annual Christmas card for ASU-Mountain Home which she had done since the new campus opened 10 years ago. She enjoyed fly fishing, gardening, traveling and, most of all, time with her family. She was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Mrs. Bailey is survived by her husband: Jim Bailey of Norfork, two sons: Jeb Bailey and wife Holly of Memphis, Tennessee, and Hunter Bailey of Ajo, Arizona, a brother: Neal Frazier and wife Beverly of Memphis, Tennessee, and two grandchildren: Susannah and Tate Bailey, and three nephews: Will Frazier, Warren Frazier and David Frazier all of the Memphis area. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church with Reverend Jim Fanrak Celebrant. A visitation will be Tuesday May 18, from 6-8 p.m. at the Roller Funeral Home. The family will also have a visitation on Thursday, May 20 from 6-8 p.m at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home, Arkansas or Siteman Cancer Center, 660 S. Euclid Ave. Box 8007, St. Louis, Missouri, 63110.
