Phillip Wayne Dunaway's Obituary
Phillip Wayne Dunaway, 86, of Memphis, TN, passed away on August 9, 2024. He was born on January 30, 1938, in Halls, TN to Enoch T. Dunaway and Geneva H. Dunaway.
He was with the Memphis Police Department for 25 years where he served as a patrol officer, on the Crime Scene Investigation Squad, the Bomb Squad and retired as a Lieutenant in charge of the Dog Squad. He then spent 16 years with the United States Marshall Service leading the team in charge of security for judges and courtrooms in the Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Tennessee. He was a member of First Evangelical Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julia Dunaway of Memphis, two sons, Alan (Allison) Dunaway of Memphis, and Todd (Gina) Dunaway of Memphis, six grandchildren (Taylor, Preston, Erin, Rachel, Elizabeth and Katherine), and five great-grandchildren (Hamilton, Connor, Aldridge, Mackenzie and Ezra), with two more on the way.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, August 15 at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. all in the Fireside Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home.
