Peter Klaus Schuster's Obituary
Peter Klaus Schuster entered the fullness of life, oh so peacefully, at home on the evening of April 6th, after a long life as a medical trainwreck, and a short stent wrestling congestive heart failure. His wife, Julia Horst Schuster, was with him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Katharina Schuster of Augsburg, Germany, and his sister, Frield Githens of Venice Beach, Florida. His sister, Karin Husted, and her children and grandchildren live in Plano, Texas. She has called him daily to “check up on him” for years. Her calls were a highlight of Peter’s days, even though he often hung up on her accidentally. Many family members and friends succeed him and will miss him dearly.
Peter and Julia were married for 40 years. They met and married just three months later. “When you know, you know,” Peter always said. They were a childless couple for the first 15 years of their marriage and planning an early retirement, when God, in his great wisdom and humor, granted them the most precious gift of all, their daughter, Mary Katharina Schuster. They always figured their parents, long deceased and determined in life and death to have grandchildren, had been tormenting God to give Peter and Julia a child until He finally gave in. And, oh, what a gift she is! Peter’s pride and joy.
Peter designed the interiors of department stores for companies, such as Sanger-Harris, Dillard’s, and Belk, for over 50 years before retiring to achieve his lifelong dreams of being a starter at Galloway Golf Course, (so he could play for free. No one was ever as proud of his 2 Par-3 holes-in-one than Peter) and later working in the meat market at Fresh Market on White Station Road.
Family and friends are welcome to remember Peter in a memorial mass at St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 1 o’clock PM on Saturday, April 15, 2023. A reception will follow in the parish’s fellowship hall.
