Peggy Dozier Selph's Obituary
Peggy Dozier Selph, entered through the gates of heaven on Saturday, April 7, 2012; passing away peacefully in her sewing room at home in Memphis, TN surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. She maintained the same simple dignity departing this life that she exemplified during her 83 years on this earth. For those who knew Peggy, know that her life could speak volumes for itself and these words serve as a heartfelt memorial to the woman we so loved and treasured. Peggy did not just live life, she celebrated it; she was generous, kind, beautiful and brave. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. More than anything, Peggy loved Jesus, followed closely by her love for family. She was multi-talented, her many hobbies included sewing, playing the piano, singing, writing music and poetry, cooking, bird watching, and working in her yard. Peggy had the unique gift to make everyone feel loved and special; and she will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity to family and friends alike. Things we will miss about her are far too numerous to count; her caring nature, generous heart, beautiful smile, sense of humor, never ending patience, uncanny words of wisdom and most of all her love for the Lord Jesus Christ. The memory of her compassion, grace and love for life will never dim but the torch carried on by loved ones she leaves behind. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Memphis Fire Department Deputy Chief E.B. Selph and daughter, Kathy Selph and her grandson Joshua Selph. She is survived by her children; Michael and Shay Selph, Steve and Brenda Selph, Laura Selph and her life partner Linda Lipe, her grandchildren Thomas Michael and Kim Selph, Jason and Julia Selph and Jenelaine Selph-Byars, her great grandchildren Jared Hill, Sebastian Wooley, Casey Selph, Sam Selph, Chris Selph, Katie Hill, Kira Byars and Gabriel Byars as well as a multitude of friends. Family and friends are invited to memorialize Peggy Selph at a visitation service on Tuesday, April 10th from 5-7pm and funeral on Wednesday, April 11th at 11:30am at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis TN 38119.
