Peggy Ann Goble's Obituary
Peggy was born September 29, 1960 in West Memphis, Arkansas as Peggy Ann Brown to the late Charles E. Brown and Magdalene R. Brown. She graduated from West Memphis High School in 1978 and studied music at Memphis State University.
Throughout her career, Peggy worked in many different positions, including as secretary for the Memphis-Shelby County Office of Planning and Development, secretary for the City of Memphis Public Works Division and Engineering Division, police transcriptionist for the Memphis Police Department, and secretary for the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority. Peggy also worked as a preschool music teacher at Capleville United Methodist Church in Memphis and as a library page at various libraries, including the Germantown Library. She also worked as a legal secretary for Stewart & Wilkinson and Baker Donelson law firms for the past two decades.
Music was a huge part of Peggy’s life. She played the clarinet for over 50 years, beginning in junior high school, and was an integral member of the Bartlett Community Concert Band since the 1990s. She also played clarinet in praise groups at various churches, most recently at Crossroads Baptist Church since 2015. In addition to clarinet, Peggy loved to sing and play piano. She also performed in the handbell choir at Second Presbyterian Church.
Peggy was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her whole world. Throughout her life, she could be found at her son Michael’s lacrosse games, her son Christopher’s soccer games, her son Rudy’s concerts, and her daughter Shelby’s soccer games; she could also be seen at her grandchildren’s school functions and baptisms. She also enjoyed the beach, Mexican food, cooking, cross-stitching, crocheting, and gardening. She served as a volunteer in the nursery at Second Presbyterian Church and was involved in Band Boosters at Germantown High School.
Peggy was a Baptist and a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Eads, TN.
A friend to many and the life of the party who loved to laugh, Peggy is especially remembered by her fellow musician and closest friend of 50 years, Lisa Brewer of Bartlett, TN.
