Peggy Long Garland's Obituary
Peggy Long Garland, 91, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2021. She has gone to her heavenly home, but her loving heart leaves a beacon of light for her family and friends.
She graduated from Tech High School and earned her BA from Memphis State
University in Elementary Education. She was a first grade teacher for Memphis City Schools until she retired.
Peggy was the widow of Samual Leonard Garland, they were married for 54
years. She is survived by her daughter, Lucinda (Cindy) Williams. She was a proud Granna to Rob and Amy Williams, Brooke, Kate and Markham Williams.
Her servant heart, cheerful attitude and smile will be missed at Bellevue Baptist Church where she was an active member her entire life. She served as a volunteer in multiple groups within Bellevue.
Peggy was a member of D.A.R., and also a member of numerous women’s clubs
and tutored children in the ARISE to Read program.
Visitation begins at 11:30 a.m. with funeral following at 1 p.m. This will be held in the Chapel at Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova on Wednesday, October 27. Interment following, Memorial Park, Poplar Ave.
