PFC PAUL GALEN ELAM, U.S.M.C., 19 years old, died June 8, 2011, while undergoing training for deployment to Afghanistan at Twentynine Palms, CA. He leaves his Ma, Susan Elam of Memphis; father, Larry Waldrip of Como, MS; grandparents, Pat Deere and Jerry Stock of Memphis; two brothers, George Waldrip and Kirk Mashburn of Memphis; three sisters, Sarah Wilson (Adam) of Somerville, TN, Stephanie Burcham (Thomas “T”) of Memphis, and Danielle Massie (Rob) of Fort Worth, TX; four nephews, Lucius and Michael Waldrip, Gabriel and Aiden Burcham; four nieces, Trinity Waldrip, Willow and Bella Wilson, Kayla Massey. Second family, Phillip, Lori and Mallory Mashburn of Memphis; Diane Ballin; her family, Gene, Sharon, Gabby and Alex; aunt, Linda Connolly (Robert) of Memphis; cousins, Keegan and Patrick, Rene Phifer (John) of Oakfield, TN, Jessica and Jennifer, Jaclyn, who preceded him in death, Candy Zoccolla (Paul) of Lakeland, Christian and Courtney, Caty and John Michael; uncle, John Deere of Como, MS; the many friends in and around Cordova High School, and his brothers in arms.
