Patsy Jean Stovall's Obituary
Patsy Jean Stovall, aka “The Dancing Doll” was born in the union of the late Mr. Doe Ray Newby and Mrs. Jean Ella Newby on September 26, 1945 in Chicago, IL. She was affectionately called “Patty” by her family and friends. God sent his angels for her on October 2, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Raymond Newby.
She received her elementary and high school education in the Chicago School System. She also attended college and earned an associate's degree. Patsy was united in holy matrimony with Eugene “Papa” Stovall and the union lasted to the date for 52 years. They were always together and spent quality time doing things that they loved.
Patsy joined Bethel Tabernacle Church in Harvey, IL in 1979, where she was a faithful member, choir member and willing worker. She loved and praised the Lord, she did what Psalms 150:1- 4 says, she often praised God in dance. Her dance was infectious, the members all wanted to dance like her. She was affectionally given the name “The Dancing Doll”, by her pastor Rev. Harold and Mother, Barbara Arrington. She gave a new definition to her elegant a-line dresses and pleated skirts. Sixteen years later, she took the show on the road to Georgia, where she joined Faith Tabernacle under the leadership of Bishop Jerry and Mother Patterson, and she had that church spell bound. She was an avid reader and crossword champ; her highlight however was riding in her red truck with her husband.
Pat leaves to cherish her memory and to celebrate her legacy of joy, life and love of people, her husband, Eugene “Geno” Stovall; Donna Bonds, Sabrina Woods, Dawn Nelson, LaMont Newby and Maurice Newby; Gabrielle Stovall, Kelsey, Bonds, Kevin Bonds, Deleon Simmons, Xavier Simmons, Hali Newby, Raymond Newby, Rodriguez Diggs, China Diggs and Mya Neumann; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousin and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 2:00pm in the Fireside Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home
