I am so sorry for your loss (mine too). Pat and I were lifelong special friends. We were in the same classes from Lauderdale Grammar School when I first moved to South Third Street and lived right across the street from Gaston Community Center and Park, until we high school.. I have so many fond memories of Pat, as we grew up together. We attended the same church, First Assembly of God when it was on Third Street, then McLemore and then moved to Highland Avenue. She loved to come to our house after Sunday service for dinner and would always "flirt and cut up with my Dad" as our chicken dinner was being cooked and she gave him a play on words about liking to neck (the neck of the chicken, of course)! My Mom and Dad loved her, as all my family of 10 siblings did! She was easy to love and converse with. I had to move to Florida for my Mother's health when I was 15 years of age, but Pat and I remained good friends and got together every time I was in the Memphis area (almost once every year)! In later years, each time we went to Memphis area, a group of us "older folks" would get together for meals and remembering the "old days" and catching up on our families etc. To know Pat was to love her and she will be missed so much. Our prayers are with the family. Wish I could be there with you. Margaret Kearns Van Vleck, Lake City, FL.
