Patricia Shaw Walsh's Obituary
PATRICIA SHAW WALSH
September 9, 1937 – January 6, 2023
Patricia Shaw Walsh passed away on January 6, 2023, while surrounded by her children and her nephew in her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was 85 years old. Born the daughter of Dr. Daryl W. Shaw and Dora P. Shaw in the coal mining town of Montrose, Pennsylvania, she grew up with her two brothers, David Shaw and Richard Shaw. She attended Pembroke College, later known as Brown University, and eventually met her first husband, Leonard Hall Jones, Jr., a native of Memphis, TN. They were married in Memphis on June 3, 1961. Their marriage produced four children who survive her, Leonard Hall Jones, III of Fairhope, AL, Megan Arlene Bullard of Memphis, TN, David Winston Shaw Jones of Los Angeles, CA, and Patricia Jones Turner of Tulsa, OK. After her marriage ended with Hall, she married Joseph Walsh of Memphis, TN on February 27, 1988. She quickly became the beloved stepmother to Joe’s children, Beverly Robertson, Teresa Davis, Timothy Walsh, and Angela Walsh. She is predeceased in death by her father, mother, both brothers, and both husbands. An avid athlete and sports enthusiast, she especially enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and was an excellent bowler and proud member of the “Gutter Girls” bowling team. She was a member of Windyke Country Club and The Memphis Country Club where she frequently played golf and tennis. She also was a supporter of Memphis charities and served on the board of the Duration Club of Memphis and the Board of Directors of Laurelwood Shopping Center. After moving with Joe to Naples, Florida, she and Joe enjoyed competing in mixed couples tennis matches at Naples Bath and Tennis Club and playing golf at Wyndemere Golf Club. She spent many Saturdays with her family watching college football, quietly rooting in a house full of LSU fans for Ole Miss where Timothy served as Executive Director of the Alumni Association. Despite her love for Naples, she and Joe moved back to Memphis to be closer to his family. After Joe’s passing, she lived for a short time in Olive Branch, MS before moving to Tulsa, OK to be closer to her daughter. She leaves behind her four children and their spouses, Angela Jones, Clifton Bullard, Heather Jones, Nathan Turner, and her nephews, Richard Shaw and William Shaw. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Morgan Shaw Jones, Madison Doyle Jones, Martha Eppes Turner, Amelia Shaw Turner, Sarah Jones Turner, David Winston Shaw Jones, Jr., Harmon Cash Jones, and one great-grandson, Harrison Hall Rompon. In addition, she leaves behind many friends in Memphis and Rockville, MD, including her lifelong dear friend Virginia Vasilakos, as well as many caregivers for whom she was eternally grateful.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday February 4 at 2:00pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Youth Villages (Memphis), Heifer International or a charity of your choice
