Not only was Pat an amazing author, she was a wonderful mentor to so many other writers. You could always turn to her for advice. She was always gracious, kind, and a real class act. I loved hearing her say thang like in it's a southern thang. I'm glad I was able to call her a friend as well. She'll be missed.
You aren't gone, my friend. You are in my heart, and in the hearts of those you loved. Love never dies. Which is why you spent so much of your life writing about it. Your heart is also in your stories, and they are going to be around forever. You helped me transform my life, to find myself and be true to who I am. And you shared who you were, too. I hold those memories precious. Too many memories to share here. Our Mark Twain adventure is one of the greats. It reminds me to be brave enough to reach for more. I remember last May of all times to visit the Zoo, 15 to 20 school busses, as it was the end of the school year. I decided to take her out of The Beehive, and take a Field Trip. She had not long been out of rehab after her stroke. She was so excited and such a Little
Trooper. I asked her if she wanted a rental wheel chair. Of coarse she ever so politely declined. We would walk 2 or 3 minutes and we would rest 5 minutes. She was so determined to get to the Petting Zoo. We made it after a little while. She enjoyed that so much! Almost as much as I did! She was such a strong lady, and fighter to the end! She is my hero! Gone but never forgotten! I truly love my friend!
