Patricia Nenon's Obituary
Patricia Wrape Nenon passed away shortly after her eighty-eighth birthday on Easter Sunday. She was born on March 15, 1928 in Little Rock, Arkansas as the second of five children to Azile Hogan Wrape and Aloysius J. Wrape. She graduated from Mount St. Mary Academy in Little Rock and from St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame Indiana with a degree in chemistry and home economics. Afterwards, she moved to Memphis, where she would spend most of her life. In November 1950 she married her husband Thomas Joseph Nenon, whom she loved until his death in 1998. Together they raised the eight children born to them between 1951 and 1966. Tom successfully founded and led his own mechanical engineering companies and Pat devoted herself to the calling she always saw as her first job and most important contribution to the world as the loving mother of the eight children. She supported their growth and development in every way, including cooking wonderful meals nightly for her family and anyone else lucky enough to be in the home that evening. As the children grew older, Pat was able to indulge her curiosity for other countries and people around the world through travel. When they had all moved off to college, she began to work outside the house to be with other people and keep herself busy in productive ways. Her hobby of sewing, needlepoint, crochet and most anything with a thread and needle took her to a fabric store, but soon afterwards she moved to the Gift and Art Shop where she enjoyed working for over two decades, well into her 80’s. In 2012, she moved to the Lanier Village retirement community in Gainesville, Georgia where she could enjoy the support and companionship of her daughter Judy and Judy’s husband John. She spent her time there making new friendships and sharing in many evenings playing cards with dear friends. Her favorite occasions always remained family get-togethers. Even at her last family occasion at the age of 87, she talked, smiled, laughed, and danced the whole evening as she always had. She is survived by her children and their spouses Tom and Monika Nenon (Memphis), Pat and Coffee Miklos (Sequim WA), Ed and Carroll Nenon (Memphis), Judy and John Girardeau (Gainesville GA), David and Karen Nenon (Charlotte NC), Philip Nenon (Tuscon AZ), Chris Nenon (Nickie deceased, Fort Worth TX), Elizabeth Nenon (Jackson MS); by her sister-in-law Grace Wrape (Al deceased, Kansas City), her brother Bill Wrape (Betty) deceased, Little Rock AR), her brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Sue Wrape (Winston-Salem NC), and her sister and brother-in-law Dr. David and Ann James (West Memphis AR); along with fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, April 1 from 5:30 until 7:30 pm. There will be a funeral at St. Anne Catholic Church on Highland at 10 am Saturday, April 2.
