Patricia Kay Jones' Obituary
Patricia “Kay” Stewart Jones, 79, of Cordova, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2022, in Memphis.
Kay was born on August 10, 1943, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Jack Stewart and Peggy Turner Stewart Jennings. She was raised in Duncan, Oklahoma, where she graduated from Duncan High School and married the love of her life, Dr. Larry M. Jones. Together, they moved to Memphis, Tennessee, to build a life for their family.
She is survived by her two sons, Todd Jones (Maria) of Jupiter, Florida, and Blake Jones (Michelle) of Brandon, Mississippi; and granddaughters, Tyler and Grace Jones of Vaughan, Mississippi, and Ella Bennett of Brandon, Mississippi. Kay is also survived by her brothers, Larry Stewart of Lone Grove, Oklahoma, and Bob Earl Stewart (Renell) of Ringling, Oklahoma; brother-in-law Jerry Jones (Frances) of Tullahoma, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Larry M. Jones; her parents, Peggy and Bob Lynn Jennings; and brother-in-law, Calvin Jones (Jane).
Kay loved spending time in the kitchen and creating hundreds of original recipes, one being her homemade sourdough bread from a bread starter she had preserved for over 35 years. She was known for cooking and delivering meals to friends and neighbors, along with weekly homemade cinnamon rolls to her local fire department. She enjoyed sewing quilts, many of which she would donate to various charities throughout Memphis, and devoted many of her days to being a docent volunteer at several museums in her lifetime. In her spare time, she loved reading murder mystery novels, gardening, and watching professional golf on television, but her greatest joy was spending time with her sons and granddaughters.
A private gravesite service for the family will be held August 22. The family welcomes donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers.
