Patricia Lynn Edmiston's Obituary
Patricia Lynn Edmiston was born on October 4th, 1955 to Bill and Ruth Edmiston. She passed from this earthly plane on Sunday, October 29th, 2023.
And now, for the dash in between...
She spent her childhood in Whitehaven, Tennessee, graduating from Hillcrest High School, and later The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She earned a degree in Social Work, and spent her career working in the service of others. She pioneered programs for the disabled of the community, mentored many in her field, and retired, only to face an arduous battle with cancer.
During her lifelong career, she resided in many areas of the country, always creating new family that she would cherish deeply. If love can build a bridge, Pat never burned one, and remained in contact with her "Work Family" until the day she died. As she did with every person who was fortunate enough to be within her sphere of life. She had families of friends wherever she was, whether at her cabin on Moon Lake, her many cousins, her circle of friends in Memphis, Nashville or Phoenix. All were her brothers and sisters in this life, and so it shall remain in the next one.
Describing such a rich tapestry of a life in a few paragraphs will never do service to our friend and sister. But I can tell you this. Pat brought joy and a love of life to every soul she met. She was generous, loyal, patient, kind, pragmatic, stoic and gentle. She had the rare gift of making every encounter with her leaving you with the feeling that you were the most important person in her life, and her love for you would never fade. And it wouldn't.
If you are feeling a little ache in your chest right about now, that's Pat, moving from her place in your heart to her new place in your soul, where we all will carry her and our cherished memories of her. We who knew her during her time on the planet, we are, indeed, the lucky ones.
She will be laid to rest alongside her parents, and be waiting for us on the other side. And the saints will go marching on, and the angels sing in exultation upon her arrival, of that I am certain. Listen in your dreams, you'll hear it.
