Patricia Hoover Burke's Obituary
Patricia Hoover Burke, 94, passed away peacefully at her home on November 11, 2023. The daughter of the late Evelyn Hoover and Sherman Hoover, “Patsy” was born in Louisville, Mississippi, but spent most of her life in Memphis, Tennessee.
Patsy graduated from Memphis State University with a degree in Education and was a long-time teacher with the former Memphis City Schools’ district. Following her retirement from the local school system, she spent several more years teaching visually impaired students. She was a wonderful teacher who was dearly loved by her many students.
Patsy loved sewing, spending time at Pickwick Lake, and watching Memphis basketball.
Patsy is preceded in death by her husband, Patrick James Burke, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Hoover, and her brother, Sherman Hayes Hoover.
She is survived by her brother Duane Lofton Hoover (Drada) of Atlanta, GA, and many loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend, Patsy will be dearly missed.
There will be a gathering of friends and family at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park Mausoleum on Thursday, November 16, 2023, with a graveside service to follow at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Patsy’s memory.
