Pamela Hixson's Obituary
PAMELA BARNETT HIXSON, 65, died Friday, September 14, 2012 peacefully at home surrounded by family after a 16 year battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. She was the daughter of Mildred Ely Barnett and the late Leon Barnett Sr. Pamela was an active member of the Jeb Russell Sunday School Class at Second Presbyterian Church where she participated in World Missions. She was also a member of LeBonheur Club and of Chi Omega sorority at Millsaps College. She was a loyal supporter of Young Life. Pamela is survived by her husband, Sherman D. Hixson; daughter, Emily Hixson Hood (Jason), son Sherman Douglas Hixson, Jr. (Melissa) of Nashville, TN; sister Barbara Barnett Holt (Bob) of Chattanooga, TN; brother, Leon Barnett Jr. (Glenda); grandchildren, Noah, Darby and James Hood, Abigail, Joseph and Clara Hixson. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 19 at Second Presbyterian Church, Memphis with family receiving friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Rev. Sanders L. Willson will officiate. Graveside will be at Memorial Park Cemetery for close friends and family. Memorial contributions may be made to The Neighborhood School, 175 N. Tillman 38111 and Second Presbyterian Church, 4055 Poplar Ave. 38111.
