Orville C. Hancock's Obituary
ORVILLE C. HANCOCK, 86, former resident of Memphis, TN, retired to Ft. Worth, TX, passed away May 13, 2011 at Baylor Allsaints Hospital in Ft. Worth, TX. Orville was retired from Memphis Press Scimitar Newspaper, where he served Memphians’ for over 25 years as a staff writer who had interviews with stars, entertainers and presidents as well as other important political figures. He was author and co-author of 7 children’s books, and a WWII Army veteran. He was a graduate of Columbia University of Missouri Journalism, where he met and married (his bride) Pauline 59 years ago. He received a law degree from University of Memphis and continued his education for most of his life. He encouraged all to educate themselves. He had a great sense of humor and a real spirit. He was nenver blessed with children but every child was like his own. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Hancock, numerous nieces and nephews, friends and other relatives. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 18 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
