Olivia "Red" Walker-Collins' Obituary
Olivia (Red) Walker-Collins was called to her Heavenly home by her Holy Father, God, on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at approximately 3:15 p.m. at the age of 93.Olivia was born on September 29, 1925, in Indianola, Mississippi to Will Walker and Rosie McBride-Walker.Olivia gave her life to the Lord at the tender age of seven years old at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Mount Bayou, Mississippi. She attended many other churches before finding her church home at Mount Zion Baptist Church, located in South Memphis, TN, where she served on the Mother Board.Olivia had many jobs; to include: Domestic worker for her family, and was employed as a sharecropper in the Mississippi Delta. She was most proud of being a mother to her 14 children and helping many others in whatever they would need. Her humble spirit inspired her children to become caring and giving.Olivia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Collins and three children, Bernice Porter, Mary F. Porter, and Joseph Porter. She leaves to cherish her memories, as well as, celebrate her Home-going: Leola Porter-Hawkins, Mary L. Collins and Doris J. Collins of Memphis, TN; Georgia Collins-Williams (Alfred Williams), Willie Collins, Ray Collins (Yolanda Collins), Marvin Collins of Southaven, MS, Rosa C. Clark (Darryl Clark) of Clinton, MD, Betty Collins of Lithonia, GA; Christine C. Edwards (Vincent H. Edwards) of Charlestown, WV, and Calvin Collins of Atlanta, GA. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends.Olivia was a person of great integrity, with a very quiet nature and a true friend.The wake will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
