Odis Delton McKee's Obituary
Odis Delton McKee, 83, born in Benton County, Mississippi, passed away February 12, 2015, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean conflict. He was employed for 34 years as a supervisor at the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) in Memphis and worked for several years as a manager at the National Cemetery also in Memphis. While at DLA he received the Meritorious Civilian Service Award, one of the highest awards possible for a civilian employee within the Federal Government. He was an active member of the DLA Retirement Group that met on a monthly basis. He also co-owned Diamond Realty Company in Memphis. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them as much as possible. Odis was an avid quail hunter, and fisherman, particularly on Sardis Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odis and Beatrice McKee; a sister, Juanita Galloway and a brother, J. W. McKee. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Carol; a son, Terry (Tina) McKee; 2 grandsons, Thomas and Joey McKee; 3 step-children, Pamela (Robert) Kennard, Dr. Charles (Marla) Hughes and Molly (David) Schay; 12 step-grandchildren and 6 great step-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Bernice Shelby, Mickey (Hugh) Luna and Nelda (Alton) Vaughn; 2 brothers, Jim (Darlene) McKee and Rickey (Martha Nell) McKee. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 18 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. immediately followed by a funeral service all at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
