Norma Key's Obituary
Norma Jean Key, 93, passed away August 12, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Charles Key, daughter, Linda Jarrett, sister, Lola Fisher and brothers, John, Bobby and Edward Jackson. She is survived by her son, Larry Key (Marsha), son in law, Bob Jarrett, three grandchildren, Kip, Alexis (Neil) and Erin. She is also survived by in-laws, Willie Jackson, Ruby Johnson (Delbert), Sue Maynard, Barbara Bishop (Sam), Howard Key (Gay Nell) and Jerry Key (Carol), she also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. Norma had a life-long love of reading and learning and graduated Magnum Cum Laude from Memphis State University where she also received her Masters degree. She taught social studies at Kingsbury Junior High School for 21 years before retiring to a farm in Middle Tennessee where she enjoyed gardening, nature and rural living Due to advancing age Norma and her husband sold their beloved farm and moved back to the Memphis area. A life-long Baptist, she taught Sunday school most of her adult life, first at Lamar Heights Baptist Church, then Cherry Road Baptist Church when the two merged and for 21 years at Eagle Creek Baptist Church.The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 16 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. with the funeral service to follow immediately at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow immediately after the funeral service.
