Nolen Wilson's Obituary
Nolen Crowder Wilson, 83 passed away August 31, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Mr. Wilson was a Korean War veteran, former President of Pendleton Youth Athletics, having Pendleton ball field named in his honor, and inducted into the Armature Sports Hall of Fame. He was also a Mason for over 50 years and a faithful member of Woodland Presbyterian Church. In 1989 he was named one of President George Bush’s “A Thousand Points of Light” and in 2004 awarded the Jefferson Award for Public Service along with many other accomplishments during his life. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his wife Mary Virginia; parents John Nolen and Ione Crowder Wilson; sister Lynda Taylor; and brother-in-law William Taylor. He is survived by his grandsons, Adam and Albert Brinkley; niece, Phyllis Hebert, her husband Larry; nephew Billy Taylor, his wife, Teresa; and several great- nieces and great-nephews, who all loved him dearly. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, September 2 and the funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 3 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, with burial to follow.
