Nina S. Myers' Obituary
Nina Smith Myers passed peacefully in her home on February 3rd, 2025, surrounded by her daughters. Nina was born in Lumberton, Mississippi, on March 12th, 1936, to Willie Mae Myrick Smith and Cecil Earl Smith, Sr. As a child, Nina spent time with her doting grandmother, Terry Mae Myrick, and learned to play the piano there. She would continue to play throughout her life, filling her home with music and the sanctuaries of her dad's churches.
Nina moved to Memphis in junior high school and graduated from Central High School before heading to Blue Mountain College to get her degree in Elementary Education. During her time there, she was involved in various programs and especially enjoyed the arts and theatre department. After college, Nina worked as a hostess at Baptist Hospital, where she met and married the love of her life William Stanley "Stan" Myers. They cherished an enduring commitment to each other throughout their 50+ years together, enjoying raising a family, attending Memphis State basketball games, traveling, and serving others.
Nina was an accomplished gardener, studied painting, and loved the arts. She loved to host parties for people to gather, laugh, and connect. Whether it was birthdays, holidays, or family gatherings, Nina knew how to bring a bit of magic to every occasion. Christmas was her favorite holiday. Nothing brought her more joy than putting on her favorite Christmas sweater, decorating the house, and having her family gather to share a beautiful meal. Of all the things Nina loved, nothing made her happier than her family. Together with Stan, they raised their four children, Stan Myers, Jr (Sally), Melanie Wall (Keith), Amy McDurham (David), and Jenny Myers. One of their biggest joys in life was their grandchildren, who affectionally called her Grammaw and called Stan, Pappaw, or Doc.
She created a home filled with warmth, love, and beauty. As a mother and grandmother, she was unwavering in her belief in her children and grandchildren and found endless joy in cheering them on. Nina's deep faith in Jesus, prayer, and service to others had been a constant since childhood. She loved hymns; her last hours were filled with her favorite hymns as she peacefully left this world.
Nina was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, and grandson.
Nina's kind and generous heart was at the core of who she was.
Her courage, kindness, and generosity were her greatest gifts and legacy. May we carry on these gifts in remembrance of a life well lived.

Services for Mrs. Myers will be held privately at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
