Newton Mabin Hewes, Jr.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 9, or maybe 7, 1935. Lived on this earth until March 10, 2026. HIs father, Newton Maybin Hewes Senior, his mother Edna Victoria Hewes (Fort) and his son, Newton Maybin Hewes, III, his first wife, Jacqueline Hewes (Pope) and his niece, Carrie Sherman all left before him. Those left to celebrate his life and follow him into his next Great Adventure are his devoted sister, Edna MAYBIN Sherman (ne Hewes); his loving wife of 38 years, Mary Elizabeth Hewes (ne DeWitt); his children: Robin Elaine Hewes Rasmussen (Jon), Terry Gail Hewes Smith (Jim), Rachael Annette Hewes Warren (Jim); his Bonus Children: Mary Grace White (Ben), Ashley Bishop (Amanda), Susan Polk (Doug), David Crowder; his Grandchildren, Christopher Robin Rasmussen (Karra), Jon Alexander Rasmussen (Sarah), Joni Smith Allison (Ben), Emilie Christine Leon (Rick), Jonathan Patrick Smith (Brandee), Kaitlyn Miranda Vint, Tabitha Jayne Vint (Andrew), Zoe Victoria Vint (Carson); his Bonus Grandchildren Amber Stem (Barry), Erica Studdard, Zachary Studdard (Annabelle), Nicole Bishop, Courtney Bishop, Jakob Polk, David Polk, Chase Crowder, Preston Crowder, Piper Crowder, Riley White; his Great Grandchildren: Teighlor Nichole Rasmussen (Mitchell); Allyson Ivey Rasmussen, Colby Newton Alexander Rasmussen (Francesca), Stella Jolene Rasmussen, Sylvie Reese Rasmussen, Beckham Alexander Rasmussen, Joseph Parker Dilts, Emma Rylie Dilts; his Great Great Grandchildren, Braylon Smith, Isadora Rhiannan, Arielle Dilts; his Niece, Amy Sherman-Palladino (Daniel) and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends. Newton was an Eagle Scout, graduated Salutatorian of his high school class from Long Beach High School in Long Beach Mississippi, attended Mississippi State College, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Memphis State University. He began his working career at IBM in 1957. Desiring to be his own boss, he later formed Hewes Enterprises, which he owned and operated for more than 50 years, finally retiring at 89 of years of age. He left us with a legacy of resilience and independence. The memories of his independent spirit and unfailing love for his family will be blessings to all of us in the months and years to come.
