Nelsie Ortiz Aybar's Obituary
Nelsie L. Ortiz Aybar, 95, a resident of Bartlett, Tennessee, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at her home in Bartlett. Nelsie was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith, and enjoyed traveling yearly to visit each of her children and grandchildren. She was born on March 17, 1922, in Patillas, Puerto Rico to the late Jose L. Ortiz and Andrea Leon Lopez. She married Victor Aybar Catala in October 1941 and they gave birth to 4 children. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 33 years, Victor Aybar Catala, and most recently her eldest daughter, Lyda Maria Elarbee. Survivors include two daughters, Millie Callicutt (Gary), Nelsie Aybar-Grau (Anezka), one son, Victor J. Aybar; one son-in-law, Vernon Elarbee; one sister, Elba Berger; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. In her later years she was blessed additionally with two step-granddaughters, 1 step great-granddaughter, and one step great-grandson. She leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until her service begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.
