Nellie Andrews' Obituary
Nellie “Billie” Dawson Andrews, 95, born on October 30, 1921 in Fulton, MO passed away on August 15, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Leighton Lofton Andrews; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Dawson; and brother, Robert E. Dawson. Nellie was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. She enjoyed oil painting. She and Leighton traveled extensively and were avid gardeners. Their yards always looked like a picture from Better Homes and Gardens. Nellie is survived by two daughters, Peggy Andrews Frasier (Ronald) of Memphis and Gerre Andrews Nilles (Edward) of Little Rock, AR. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Lt. Col. James Andrew Birmingham (Haley), Alison Jane Lester (Shane), and Matthew Edward Nilles (Erin) and five great-grandchildren, Harrison Birmingham, Joshua Eskew, Hadley Birmingham, Kate Nilles, and Griffin Argo. A private family graveside service will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Parkinson’s Disease Research Department at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center – Memphis or a charity of the donor’s choice.
