Nell Sims' Obituary
Nell Ring Sims was promoted to Heaven on February 14, 2009. She was born on March 5, 1921, in West Helena, Arkansas, to Frederick Richard Ring and Adele Harper Ring. Her life was a very full one, with friends, family, and church services. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 68 years, Herbert Francis Sims, Jr. They lived in Southaven, but for many years, lived in Woodland Lake in Eudora, MS. If you were around Mom very long, she would tell you how much they loved their time there and how hard is was to move from their lake home. Mom leaves two children; her son, Michael E. Sims of Parrish, Florida and her daughter, Susan S. Cherry, of Olive Branch, Mississippi. Her grandchildren are Britt and Kristi Cherry, Paige and Mark Tatko, and Brian and Jahnae Cherry, all who reside in Desoto County. She was always ready to tell you about her seven great-grandchildren, Collin Sims Tatko, Nathan Thompson Tatko, Merideth Claire Tatko, Bryce Whittington, Blake Jordan, Brylee Faith, and Jake Hudson Cherry. She also leaves a sister, Mollye Zane Grehan, who resides in Memphis. “Gram”, as her grandchildren called her, loved her family, animals of every kind, flowers, and especially, the Word of God, which she taught for many years. Mom never met a stranger, and was always quick to let you know just how she felt on any and every subject. She was a precious Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend. She will be missed by many, but we are so grateful for the life she lived, the example she and Dad were to us, and for the many fond memories we have of them. The family asks that any memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
