Nathan William Groves' Obituary
Nathan William Groves, born November 18, 2016 at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Fairfax, VA, passed away on June 22, 2018 at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital after a lifelong battle with leukemia. Nathan was a resilient boy who loved his family, specifically his big brother, as well as his caregivers at St Jude. Nathan underwent chemotherapy treatment and achieved remission on Easter weekend 2017. During that summer, he relapsed and began a workup for bone marrow transplant. His brother, Anderson, was a perfect match and became a superhero by donating his bone marrow, aka, “Bone Arrow”. Nathan experienced severe side effects from transplant chemotherapy which resulted in a 5 month stay in the ICU. After a miraculous recovery, God gave us 4 beautiful months to spend with Nathan as a family before his leukemia overwhelmed his precious body. Nathan is survived by his parents, Andy and Melissa Groves; brother, Anderson Groves; grandparents Don and Laura Lynn Groves and David and Teresa Williams; great-grandmothers Ruth Conoly, Eliza Jane Sciple and Shirley Hurt; uncles and aunts Joel and Megan Groves, Luke and Lauren Groves, David and Sabrina Groves, and Natalie Williams, and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until his service begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119 (901)767-8930 “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”.
