Narah Severson's Obituary
NARAH ANNA SEVERSON was the oldest child of William Penn Jackson, Sr. and Anna Louise Reed Jackson born in Friars Point, MS, April 9, 1932. Narah passed away peacefully October 15, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, TN. At the end of WWII, Narah and her family moved to Memphis to seek better opportunities, especially in education. With her father, a Riverboat Captain and mother, a surgical nurse, she understood the value of a good education and work ethic. She graduated from Treadwell High School, Memphis State College, and the UT School of Nursing. She did this despite the challenge of hearing loss beginning at age 4. Narah loved so many and she was so loved, she will be greatly missed. To her, family was everything! Of course, she was partial to babies because many of her church callings included the nursery. Gma, as she was affectionately known in later years, is survived by her husband of 59 years, Leonard W. Severson; her brother, William P. Jackson, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA; and three of her five children, sons: Lex R. Severson (Alexandra) and son, Andrew of Arlington, TN, Lyle G. Severson (Jan) and children, Jessica Clawson (Brad) and great-granddaughter, Jacie, Justin L. Severson (Stephanie), Britney Stringham (Blake), Bronson and Samantha Severson, and daughter, Lila J. Severson Jasinsky (Cliff) and sons, Michael, Steven, and Kenny Jasinsky, all of Utah. Narah was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert H. Jackson and children, Linda A. Severson and Lynn D. Severson. Visitation and Funeral Services: Saturday, October 19 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 12096 Arlington Trail, Arlington, TN. Visitation from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the American Kidney Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, (901)767-8930, “Behind the Stone Wall”
