Nancy Bolton Saunders' Obituary
Nancy Bolton Saunders, 82, of Memphis, Tennessee went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 8, 2023.
Nancy was born on October 10, 1940, to Steven and Ednora Bolton. Succeeding her father’s death, she was raised by Ednora’s second husband Clarence “Papaw” Weldon.
Nancy graduated from Messick High School in 1958 and after graduating went to work for the Memphis Cotton Exchange.
Nancy met Hiram Saunders on a blind date in 1959 they were married in 1961, in Memphis.
Hiram and Nancy were very active members of Ridgeway Baptist Church. They taught the young married couples as well as the senior high girls school Sunday school class.
Nancy was active in her Women’s Bible study at Ridgeway and later at Germantown Baptist Church.
Mom loved traveling and playing tennis and that passion was passed on to her three children.
The joy of Nana’s life was her family and all eight of her grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 62 years,Hiram Saunders and her three children;
Sandy ( John) Maness of Germantown, Tn; Pat (Anne) Saunders of Athens, GA; Chad Saunders of Little Rock, AR; Eight grandchildren, Fallon Maness; Morgan (Blake) Edwards; Mckenzie (James) Duke; Allie Saunders; Weldon (Bennett) Wilfong; Lily Saunders; Chad Weldon Saunders; Hayden Saunders.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Steve Bolton, Sr and Don Clarence Weldon.
A memorial service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at Ridgeway Baptist Church, 2500 Ridgeway Road, Memphis TN 38119 on Friday, October 20 at 12 pm.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at the church from 11:00 until the time of service.
Interment will be private following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated in Nancy’s name to Lebonheur Children’s Hospital.
Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery is in charge of the service.
