Nancy Childs Pool's Obituary
Nancy Childs Pool, age, 94, of Memphis, Tennessee, died peacefully on the afternoon of Oct 21, 2023, at Ave Maria Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born on February 23, 1929, in Utica, New York, the youngest child of Herbert Ford Childs and Helen Frost Childs. The Childs family relocated to Memphis during her elementary school years. She later graduated from Central High School in 1947.
After several decades of homemaking, she was employed by Chickasaw Country Club Golf Shop and Colonial Country Club Golf Shop. She then worked as a bookkeeper at Central Church until her retirement at age 82.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Bud Childs, her sister, Jane Horn, her daughter, Linda Pool Pearson, and two of her grandsons, Robbie Riviere and Adam Pearson.
She dearly loved her family, which include her daughters, Barbara Maddux (Ben), Nancy Adams (Scott), Joanne Parks (Brian) and her 8 surviving grandchildren, Matthew Pearson, Rachel Fuller, Ross Adams (Kristina), Mitchell Adams (Tasha), Hannah Donald (Mark), Sarah May (Darrell), Leah Batchelor (Caleb) and Emma Sexton (Grant). Her 9 great-grandchildren were such a delight to her.
Most importantly, in the early 1970s she came to understand the good news of salvation explained in the Bible and gave her life to her Lord, Jesus Christ. From then on, she strove to live her life in a way that would glorify God.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, October 30 at 12:00 p.m. with a celebration of life service at 1:00 p.m. all in the Riverside Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home.
