Nancy Livermore's Obituary
Nancy W. Livermore, 95, who was wife of the late George R. Livermore, Jr., MD, entered the gates of larger life on October 16, 2014. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine C. Livermore of Germantown and two sons, George R. Livermore, III of Charlotte, NC and Charles W. Livermore of Knoxville. A third son, Ross W. Livermore gave his life in the Vietnam conflict. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Laura King, Katherine Lane, Melissa Ferron, Ross Herrin, Charles “Toady” Herrin, and Jordan Livermore; and ten great-grandchildren. Nancy was an avid horse enthusiast and supporter of the Germantown Charity Horse Show. She also rode and showed 5-gaited American Saddle Horses both in the Memphis area and throughout the Mid-South. Not only did she love horses but animals of all kinds. Many of her friends wanted to be reincarnated as one of the Nance’s dogs. In addition Nancy was a long-time member of Calvary Episcopal Church, Memphis, TN. For many years she served in the Calvary Church Waffle Shop which she also managed for some five years. She was a kind and generous person, who never met a stranger. She and George also opened their home to refugees from Castro’s Cuba Regime in the 1960’s. Every year they would host a grand Thanksgiving celebration for the late George and Esther Picazza and their family. With regard to her lasting influence, her oldest child, George, states: “She gave each of her children the precise love and discipline they needed. She taught me the value of a dollar and a hard-work ethic.” Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, October 20 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 21 at Calvary Church with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Germantown Charity Horse Show or the Memphis Humane Society.
