Nancy Tippitt Holmes' Obituary
Nancy Tippitt Holmes of Memphis, wife of Charles F. Holmes, died at her home Tuesday, Februay 9 after a brief illness. She was 72. Born in Haywood County, she lived in the Memphis area most of her life. She worked as an assistant to the City Attorney until retirement in 1991. Mrs. Holmes was one of the founders of the Normal Station Neighborhood Association and was active in various other neighborhood organizations in the Highland-University area of Memphis. In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, Dennis Booth of New Orleans, LA; stepdaughters, Charlotte Fletcher of Memphis and Dr. Katrina Walsh of Plano, TX; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Ralph, Frank, Joseph and Robert Tippitt. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, February 13 at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Bolivar with burial in Bethany Cemetery near Whiteville. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday night.
