Nan Brooks Hansen's Obituary
Nan Brooks Hansen, 95, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, November 21, 2009. Born July 28, 1914, the third daughter of Barney B. and Mary Jones Brooks, she was a lifelong Memphian. Nan led a vibrant, active life, enjoying golf, decoration, dancing, serving at her church and treating her guest to delicious meals. She was retired from Sears Roebuck & Company. Nan was a long time member of the former National Avenue Baptist Church, living next door, where she tended to her flower gardens and raised her family. Nan was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over fifty years, Richard O. Hansen, her parents, five sisters, Helen Latham, Mildred Tolbert, Margaret Smith, Hazel Zambrone, Thelma Sowell and grandson, Ricky Hansen. She leaves behind two sons, Richard O. Hansen, Jr. and James Michael Hansen, five grandchildren, Lewis Hansen (Valerie), Judy McLaughlin (Lee), Jeff Hansen (Lisa), Eric Hansen (Heather), Lauren Lewis (Mitch), and eleven great grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held Monday, November 23, 2009 at Memorial Park Funeral Home from 10:30 to 11:30. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 in the Fireside Chapel.
