Naeko Miyagi Ziegelbauer's Obituary
Naeko, Known to her friends as Yoko, moved on to be with the Lord Monday April 19th 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Donald Ziegelbauer, who was by her side when she passed on, her brother, Shigeo Miyagi, daughters Emiko Shimojima and Sachiko Yamada, one son, Akira Sueyoshi, granddaughter Aiko Yamada and Don's brothers and sisters Jim, Martin and Janis.
Naeko was born in 1935 on the Island of Okinawa and survived the allied invasion of the pacific islands. lost both of her parents in the invasion. She grew up in a orphanage under the care of Catholic Nuns. She eventually came to work for the US Government as a waitress in the Military Police Mess hall where she met her husband Don. She traveled around the world with him for many years until he retired from the Army.
She loved country music. performed volunteer work in a Nursing home, supported several local charities, loved animals, gardening and good neighbors and was an all around sweet person.
Naeko will be missed by many.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the service time 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations in her honor St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
