Myrtle R. Davis' Obituary
Mrs. Myrtle Marie Reeder Davis was called home to our Lord on May 13, 2017 at 12:30 in the morning in Memphis, TN. The third of five children, Myrtle was born May 21, 1930 in Morgan County, AL to Ruby Edgar Reeder and Augusta Dutton Reeder, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Milton Davis; sister, Edith Reeder Garner; brother, Edward Reeder; and son-in-law, Richard Mason. An outgoing and devoted family member, Myrtle leaves behind her daughter, Carol Davis Mason; her son, Richard Davis; her grandchildren, Neil Mason and Christina Mason Freund (Stephen); her great-grandchildren, Mason and Harper Freund; her brother, Russell Reeder; and her sister, Rachel Reeder Self. Myrtle was a very positive and sweet woman. She retired from Macy’s China Department and helped her husband in his jewelry business. Her hobbies included quilting, cooking, smocking, and drinking coffee while catching up with her children and grandchildren. Myrtle always wanted to travel and was fortunate enough to vacation in Paris and London with her family some years before her passing. She was a member of Germantown Church of Christ. She was a very beautiful but humble lady, and was voted “Prettiest” at her high school reunion at their last gathering. Her sense of humor and abounding love will be greatly missed by those who knew her. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 18 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with the funeral service to follow immediately at 10:30 a.m. All services will be held at Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation alzfdn.org
